I attended the Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year show at the Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2023.   Indian comic Shalaka Kurup came third producing some wonderful jokes and stories in a five-minute set.

I saw her again for the Sofa SoFunny! showcase in May 2023, and then again in January 2025 where she described life in London in a hilarious manner, really engaging with her audience.

Kurup made her Always Be Comedy debut in February 2025 and I saw her again at the Kennington venue in April 2025. She was also on the opening night for Always Be Comedy Chelsea in October 2025. Every time, she looked assured and confident on stage and really delivered the big laughs.
